Welcome, friends, to my 15th book corner newsletter. When we eat healthily and exercise, our weight seems to fall off. But then, all of a sudden, you are stuck in the same weight. Nothing you do seems to help. Have you been here? I have. Below, I write about this subject in my new eBook.
Chapter 7: Eating Healthy for Long-Term Results
Overcoming Plateaus and Staying Motivated
Plateaus are a common obstacle that many individuals face on their journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Whether focused on weight loss or simply maintaining a nutritious diet, knowing how to overcome these plateaus and stay motivated is essential. This subchapter will explore practical strategies to help you break through plateaus and maintain momentum.
One of the first steps towards overcoming plateaus is reassessing your goals and expectations. Often, we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves, which can lead to discouragement when we don't see immediate results. Take a moment to reevaluate your goals and set achievable milestones. Celebrate the small victories along the way, as they will keep you motivated and remind you that progress is being made. Do not celebrate with lousy food. The idea is to change your lifestyle, not say it is okay on this day. That is like a drug user or alcoholic saying it is OK for that one day. A new dress or suit may reward you or treat yourself to a movie.
Examining your nutrition and exercise routine is another crucial aspect of overcoming plateaus. Are you fueling your body with the proper nutrients? Are you challenging yourself during workouts? It may be time to reassess eating habits and exercise. Consider consulting a nutritionist or personal trainer who provides guidance tailored to your needs. They can help you adjust your diet and exercise routine to break the plateau.
Furthermore, it's essential to stay mindful and present throughout your journey. Conscious eating, for example, can help you develop a healthier relationship with food. Remember your body's hunger and fullness cues and avoid emotional eating. You can make more conscious choices that align with your goals by cultivating awareness.
In addition to reevaluating your goals, finding a support system is crucial. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share your views. Joining fitness groups, online communities, or finding a workout buddy can provide the encouragement and accountability you need to stay motivated. Share your struggles and successes with others, which can be inspiring and empowering.
Lastly, embrace variety and change in your routine. Trying new exercises, exploring different recipes, and incorporating diverse foods into your diet can keep things exciting and prevent boredom. Remember, the path to a healthier lifestyle is not a linear one. Staying open to new experiences and adjusting your approach when necessary is essential. Most of all, do not treat this as a diet; treat it as a life change.
In conclusion, plateaus are a natural part of any health and wellness journey. You can overcome plateaus and stay motivated by reassessing goals, examining nutrition and exercise routines, finding support, and embracing change. Progress takes time, and every step forward brings you closer to your ultimate goals. Stay committed and focused and nourish your body. You will start having confidence in yourself and feel healthier.
Hello, hello. It has been a ride for me this week. I went on a day trip to Alabama, and it was great. Looking back at my articles, it has been almost one year since I went on the same journey. Cheahau Mountain is so beautiful. The State Park was packed with campers. Some were there because of the storm in the other southern states that devastated that area.
Below are some of the articles I pulled that touched me. I hope they will you, also.
If you are over 50, you probably have gone through some drastic changes in your life. Some people may say you are having a mid-life crisis but don’t listen to them. We have a right to explore new things if it doesn’t hurt anyone.
does a great job talking about her experiences after 50 moving to different countries. What a brave woman she is. I would love to go and discover Europe, and maybe one day I will.My Thoughts for the Day
Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining, and Fall is creeping in. I am thankful for every day that I wake up. Getting up in age is not for the faint of heart but I am taking my health seriously.
I have had some health issues for a while, and this year, it is my thyroid. I cannot have knee surgery until I get my thyroid under control. Some days, I feel good, and some I do not. This is as honest as it gets. I will be seeing the surgeon to see if it is cancer. If it is not, he will only take half of my thyroid to get the vast nodgel.
Since I have turned to natural supplements, I did get my BP normal without medications. This is one great accomplishment, and I got off all medications but one a way back. I try to stay busy and eat healthy. I lost some weight from just not eating out.
This is why I have researched health, herbs and spices. My mom is 80 and very healthy because she is living this way. She grows, cans, dries, and freezes her food. We are learning about different foods and their purposes every day.
It is never too late to take control of your health.
