Good morning, everyone! I hope everyone is well. It has been a trying couple of weeks, but praise God for another glorious day!
My son had a major heart attack last week, and it has been difficult. Because of my disabilities, getting around was tough. My son will have to make some life changes in his eating and exercise.
This is one of the reasons I am writing this e-book. I know that in our world, it is more straightforward to choose convenience food instead of fresh food that has not been processed.
My health is why I researched the last few years to change my lifestyle. Below is Chapter 5 in my book. If you want to read Chapters 1-4, start with the Substack newsletter “Cherokee Woman. That was before I began the book corner.
I value your comments, so feel free to share my substack and comments with any advice you have learned about health. If you have an article you would like to share, DM me.
Chapter 5: The Power of Conscious Movement
Finding Joy in Exercise
Exercise is often seen as necessary when achieving health and weight loss goals. Many people consider it a tedious chore, something they must rather than want to do. However, exercise can be more than just a means to an end. It can be a source of immense joy and fulfillment if approached with the right mindset. I will admit that I do not like exercise, but I walked four miles a day for years. Now that my knees are awaiting surgery, I miss it terribly.
Finding joy in exercise is essential for people interested in improving their well-being. Not only does it make the experience more enjoyable, but it also increases the likelihood of sticking to a regular fitness routine in the long run. Here are a few strategies to help you enjoy exercise and make it a sustainable lifestyle.
1. Find activities you genuinely enjoy, which is essential. Experiment with different forms of exercise until you discover something that you like. Whether it's dancing, hiking, swimming, or playing a sport, the key is to engage in physical activity that doesn't feel like a burden. By doing so, you'll look forward to each workout session, making it easier to maintain consistency.
2. Infuse joy into your exercise routine by incorporating practices. Instead of mindlessly going through the motions, be fully present and aware of your body. Pay attention to how your muscles feel, the rhythm of your breath, and the sensations that arise during movement. This approach enhances your workout's effectiveness and allows you a deeper connection with your body. I know it got easier when I pushed my body past two miles of walking.
3.Finding joy in exercise can be facilitated by creating a supportive community around you. Join fitness classes, find a workout buddy, or participate in online communities focused on health and wellness. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who share similar goals can provide motivation and inspiration. The social aspect of exercise can turn an activity into a fun and social experience.
4. Remember to celebrate your progress and achievements along the way. Every time you complete a workout, set a new personal record, or notice improvements in your strength and endurance. Take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate your efforts. Rewarding yourself, whether it's with a relaxing massage, a new workout outfit, or a healthy treat, can further enhance the joy and satisfaction derived from exercise. Do not reward yourself with bad food; that would defeat itself!
In conclusion, exercise doesn't have to be a task. You can create a positive and joyful relationship with exercise by finding activities you enjoy, having a supportive community, and celebrating your achievements. Embracing exercise as a source of joy and fulfillment will improve your physical health, overall well-being, and life.
